YOU, SIRS, ARE FUCKING DOUCHEWAFFLES.

YOU ARE A FANFIC ARCHIVE, NOT A WORTHY CHARITABLE ORGANISATION OR AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM.

They are trying to win a $25,000 grant to pay for their servers and bandwidth to host their FANFICTION over, you know, actual REAL charities and organisations who are also trying to win the grant to, oh, HELP PEOPLE.

I urge everyone to click on the Pepsi Refresh Project and vote for 10 charity funding proposals that are actually DESERVING instead of the the entitled, privileged, self-absorbed douchenugget that is Fiction Alley.

Stay classy, FA. Assholes.

Yeah. When I first got the e-mail from them I didn't read it & didn't really think anything about it but now that I know the details?

I'm pretty annoyed - and remembering what I do about CM ... I knew you'd have something to say.

<3

There's an autism charity - guess what I think is much more deserving of my vote?

I don't even know what's worse: that they had the balls to even try this, or that they seem to be drinking their own Kool-Aid and actually believe they're right about this.

Just. Seriously. It defies comprehension.

I love the word douchewaffles. Made my day. <3

And yeah. I can see a good argument being made for fanfic as an educational thing as it is a good way for writers to hone their craft but this? No. Just no.

I pulled my fanfiction from FA a few years ago because I just wanted my stuff hosted at LJ where I knew where it was.

Now I'm glad I did.

I can understand wanting to cover server costs so it doesn't come out of pocket, but they're not a charity and they don't deserve a grant.

I can absolutely understand wanting to cover server costs, but you'd think that the first thought would be, "Hey, let's roll out a fundraiser." Not: "Let's apply for a $25k charity grant."

I agree; they don't deserve a grant.

I think they tried to get user donations. I know Heidi was posting about "please donate for server costs" a while ago... I don't think anyone gave anything and that's why they're doing this.

But even then... advertising should have been the first choice.

I know, right? It's like we've been slung back in time and 2005 all over again.

Appropriate icon is appropriate.

This sucked the air out of me like a punch to the gut. Seriously. Fanfiction?! Words fail me.
